School for Tigers
It is an exceptional helicopter in many regards. The Tiger, the latest generation of combat-support helicopter, is a both a technological and a military success. But the Tiger is also an amazing political success, as the Franco-German militaro-industrial project also gave birth to a joint training centre for French and German Tiger pilots which has reached an unmatched level of intergration. It is the result of technological and financial cooperation that has provided it with unheard of resources.

This Franco-German school, known as the EFA — École Franco-Allemande — is the founding stone for an European army. Under joint command — currently French — German and French servicemen are working on the French territory to receive and train future pilots.

“Germany is entrusting us with the training necessary for its most complex weapon system, in a school outside of its own territory. This is a remarkable feat!” admires Colonel Salendre, commander-in-chief of the EFA.
